On 27 February 2026 at 11:20, the fire brigade responded to a 112 emergency call in Groningen, on M.k. Gandhiplein. The fire service is not only called out for fires, but also for traffic accidents, technical rescues, hazardous-materials incidents and water emergencies. Their deployment is coordinated by the fire brigade dispatch centre.
